Wheat allergy facts


An allergic reaction is the reaction of your immune system against some particular agents which has been mistakenly identified as toxic substance by your body's immune system. So what happens is your immune system start to produce antibodies to fight and protect your body against these toxic substances.

Basically, if you have wheat allergy, then your body will produce some allergic reactions which is caused by your antibody to a protein found in wheat. It means your immune system has wrongly identified this wheat protein as some toxic substance that could hurt you. This allergic reactions or attack of your body’s immune system happens only when you eat wheat.

Actually the wheat has four different types of proteins which can cause allergic reactions such as globulin, albumin, gluten and gliadin. Any of them can cause an allergic reaction. Not all people experience this wheat allergy; there are certain factors which are involved to put you at higher risk of developing wheat allergy:

Family history: Family history plays a vital role in wheat allergy. Yes! If your family members or your parents have food allergies or other allergies such as hay fever, then you are at high risk. 

Age: Wheat allergy is very common among small babies and toddlers, as they have only immature immune and digestive systems.
