Tips to Prevent Seasonal Allergies

Every year, millions of people suffer from seasonal allergies. There are around 17 million doctor visits in the United States alone due to this disease. The most common cause of seasonal allergy is pollens. Here are some things you can do to prevent seasonal allergies from occurring.

Eat a lot of Fatty Acids. Flaxseed and poultry are good sources of fatty acids--a known substance that reduces the risk of allergic reactions in people.

Take vitamin C. Either in the form of supplements or taken naturally, vitamin C can greatly lower histamine levels in your blood. A healthy dose of fruits and vegetables can help boost your immune system in general.

Be mindful during pollen season. Avoid exposing yourself outside especially when certain trees, grass, flowers, and weeds are pollinating. If it is unavoidable to go out, you may want to wear a protective mask covering your nose and mouth. Pollen normally gets inside the body through the nostrils. Make sure to have a handful of masks to rotate if you cannot avoid doing work in your yard.

Wash clothes right away. Pollens can also get into your house by sticking to your clothes. Be sure to isolate your work clothes right away after working outside. In addition, wash your hair and body thoroughly after exposing yourself outside.
