An explanation on hay feverHay fever or rhinitis is an allergic reaction. The word ‘rhinitis’ is derived from the word ‘rhin’ which means itchy and stuffy nose. We all know that fresh air is very important for a healthy body. But, due to an increase in the pollution levels of air now days, it is also accompanied by many airborne particles like pollens, molds and the dust particles. It is generally believed that the susceptibility of an individual to these particles cause the allergic reaction called hay fever. It is mostly found in people with the outdoor routine as they are mostly subjected to the airborne particles like pollens, molds and other dust particles. It also manifests itself in many symptoms like- stuffy red nose, watery eyes, itchy feeling. Surprisingly, some of the developed countries in the world, particularly the countries of Europe and the U.S.A. are the standing victims of this allergic reaction. In these countries, it is found equally both among men as well as women. It is attributed to the environmental factors. It is usually seasonal but also depends upon the durability of the allergen. It is mainly caused during the spring season and lasts till the fall. |
