Products That Might Cause Dairy Allergies


Food allergens (the triggers for allergic reactions), those part of foods that cause allergic reaction, are usually proteins. Even if cooked, most of these allergens can still cause reactions id ingested in the intestines. Many types of food protein have been studied to understand and establish their allergen content.

Recent studies have shown that the protein in cow's milk is one of the most common allergens. Cow milk protein is composed of 2 types: whey (about 20%) and casein (about 80%). Individuals affected by dairy allergies must find other sources of vitamin and calcium in their diets.

Today, the only treatment for dairy allergies is the total avoidance of milk proteins. If your dairy allergy is being caused by another dairy product like egg, you have to also avoid it. Almost all dairy products should be avoided id you have dairy allergies. These products are listed as follows:

• Butter

• Cheese

• Yogurt

• Cream

Sometimes, goat's milk must also be avoided to ensure prevention. Some ingredients in certain products also denote dairy milk. You must check the list of ingredients first before buying anything. Some of these products include casein, whey, butter flavor, lactic acid from dairy products, and sodium caseinate.
