Food items and allergy caused by themFood allergy, as the name suggests, refers to the allergy caused by the consumption of a particular food. It is the exaggerated or abnormal response of the immune system of an individual to a food. It is somewhat different from other reactions like food intolerance and certain other reactions. The allergen causing it is otherwise known as food allergen. It is mostly caused by the foods like fish, egg and peanuts. The best way to keep away from food allergy it is to avoid taking the foods which cause it. People having a family history of allergic diseases or those who are atopic are more likely to catch it. It usually shows three conditions viz. esophagitis, gastritis and gastroenteritis. It is also accompanied by many symptoms .Gastrointestinal hypersensitivity is accompanied by pain in the abdomen, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. Angioedema is accompanied by the itching of mouth, tongue, nose and skin. One of the food allergies called Anaphylaxis can even lead to death. It also causes low blood pressure. Owing to the different food habits at different places, the food allergens also vary from place to place. However peanuts, eggs and fish are some of the commonest allergens because people take these foods in most of the countries around the world. |
