Epinephrine autoinjector: What is its use?

An epinephrine autoinjector is a medical instrument which is commonly used to distribute a dose of epinephrine or adrenaline in a particular measurement using autoinjector technology. An epinephrine autoinjector is mostly used in the treatment of intense allergic reactions which helps to prevent the patients from the onset of anaphylactic shock. These medical devices comprise a spring-loaded needle which exits the one end of the instrument in which it enters into the patient's body to release the measured medication.

Generally, the epinephrine autoinjectors have a pre-programmed dosage of epinephrine, which is always between 0.3 mg and 0.5 mg and it is the right amount for a normal person. The epinephrine autoinjectors also have a separate measurement for pediatric use in which the dosage comes at 0.15 mg of active ingredient.

This medical device is usually used in the treatment of serious allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing, rashes, itching, swelling of the mouth, lips or tongue, hives, crushing sensation in the chest.

Epinephrine autoinjector is an adrenergic which functions on different sensory receptor of the body and make them to relax and also smooth the muscle of the lungs. This helps to improve the breathing. It also aids in blocking the histamine and decreases the severity of swelling, rash and hives.
