The Symptoms of Dust Allergy

The symptoms of dust allergy are similar to those of seasonal allergy, or "hay fever". Patients will have itchy and watery eyes, runny nose, and sneeze repeatedly. Such symptoms will intensify while you are cleaning the house, changing your mattresses, moving pillows, vacuuming, or changing bed covers. For some rare cases, more adverse reactions like asthma-like symptoms with wheezing and difficulty breathing may be encountered.

Dust allergies are, most of the time, caused by dust mites or their waste products. Dust allergies are known to sometimes lead to complications than simple coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Some people may experience severe allergic asthma symptoms. If this happens, long-term anti-inflammatory medications as well as quick relief bronchial dilator inhalers may be required to immediately treat this condition.

If you suffer some of these symptoms whenever you are inside the house, or whenever cleaning your room, be sure to consult your allergist. Prevention is still the best cure when it comes to allergies. Protect yourself at all times when cleaning your room. Wear a dust mask when you dust furniture or move around the house especially after cleaning. If possible, stay as long as you can from the place you just cleaned to allow particles and mites to settle down.
