There are many treatments available for allergies. Some of them include home remedies, homeopathy, natural remedies, avoidance of allergens and conventional medications. Avoidance of allergens is the best way to prevent aggravation of the condition. Since home based and natural treatments take time or the allergies to get cured, conventional medications offer better, quick and efficient results to treat allergies. Antihistamines: During allergic reaction, body releases the chemical called as histamine. And antihistamines help in blocking the chemical. This medication comes in forms of oral medication, topical creams, nasal sprays and eye drops.

Decongestants: This class of conventional medicine helps in treating hay fever, blocked nose or symptoms of pet and dust allergy. 

Hyposensitization (immunotherapy): In this therapy, more allergens are introduced in the body to get rid of sensitivity to allergen. 

While you are taking medication course as prescribed by the doctor you may even ask him that whether you can have some natural or home based treatments side by side. Green tea, chamomile leaves, lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, ginseng, ginger and garlic are some of the natural substances used in treating different kinds of allergies.
