What Is Claritin-D


Patients that might be having allergy symptoms such as itching, watery eyes, sneezing or other problems related to allergies might be prescribed Claritin-D. This medication has two drugs in it both Loratadine and pesudoephedrine are used to help reduce the allergy symptoms. Loratadine is needed in Claritin-D because it can block any actions from the hitamine that can cause some of the allergy symptoms. Pseudoephedrine can help because it decongests the tissues that allows the blood vessels to become constrict. Patients do not experience sedation when using Claritin-D.

This medication is also used to treat the common cold, seasonal allergic rhinitis, and other allergic conditions. Sometimes it helps patients that might have bronchitis and possibly pharyngitis or congested sinuses. Patients who have a weak stomach can take with food or they don't have to. If patients have a heart disease, diabetes, breast feeding or might become pregnant should talk with their doctor first before taking Claritin-D.

Side effects with Claritin-D include but not limited to:

- dizziness
- restlessness
- nervousness
- headache
- anxiety
- tremor
- nausea
- stomach pains
- seizures
- hallucinations
- fear

This is not a complete list of symptoms with Claritin-D. When a patient has these side effects or might not feel right or if the patient does not get better within a few days they should contact the doctor.
