What to do if you are allergic to aspirin?

Those who are allergic to aspirin must resort to other types of drugs. There are plenty of drugs which are available as substituent for aspirin but may not be able to reproduce exactly the same functions. So you might need to choose for different drugs in place for aspirin depending upon why you need them. For example, consider the following:

  • Tylenol, which is the common brand name for the drug acetaminophen, is a very safe drug except in extremely rare cases when one might be allergic to this as well. It is usually considered as the drug of choice for those who are allergic to aspirin.
  • Most narcotics which function as pain relievers are also relatively safe. However it is advisable that you first confirm with your doctor which narcotics you take before taking them.
  • Celebrex, the brand name for the drug celecoxib, is a newly developed drug for patients with aspirin allergy and is a very good alternative as a pain reliever.
None of these drugs should be taken without consultation and confirmation with your doctor. If an allergic reaction is observed with these drugs as well, you should consider other pain relievers and home remedies.
