The Symptoms of Peanut AllergyPeanut allergy is a serious problem and therefore must be taken seriously. The symptoms of this disease are life threatening after contact or ingestion of the allergen. Since this type of allergy can normally affect an unfortunate soul throughout life, it is best to know what its symptoms are. Atopic dermatitis (eczema). This is an inflammatory, chronically relapsing, non-contagious skin disease. Eczema is an overreaction of the skin to allergens or irritants. Its symptoms can increase or disappear a long time. Urticaria (hives). This is a kind of skin rash identified by dark-red, raised itchy bumps. Depending on the state of your immune system, this symptom can cast for up to 6 weeks. Digestive Symptoms. Some people complain of upset stomach, diarrhea, and other stomach-related disorders after having contact with peanuts or eating them. Anaphylactic shock. This is the most deadly symptom you can get from peanuts. Anaphylaxis or Anaphylactic shock causes the airways to shut off causing shortness of breath, wheezing, and low oxygen in the blood. This disorder can also affect several systems of the body simultaneously such as lower and upper respiratory tracts, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, and the nervous system. Any of these symptoms should prompt you to see a doctor. Never take this allergy for granted.
